Manitoulin Island

So close, so unique!

The Little Current Swing Bridge, the only access to Manitoulin Island, is 108 years old and can swing open to allow boats to pass. It has been designated an Ontario Heritage site. Engineers are recommending that the bridge be replaced by a new two-lane swing bridge…

We had only visited this island once, and briefly. This fall, we decided to explore it a bit. We were pleasantly surprised!

Travelling with good friends is so much more enjoyable:)

Bridal Veil Falls, a must experience spot!

Misery Bay, a highlight of the trip!

Interesting, the flat, barren, limy, polished rocks are called pavements. https://www.ontariobeneathourfeet.com/

Yolande and I walked a trail while Norm and Roger waited patiently…Actually, they were entertained by two ladies who found them interesting lol

And then…

Gore Bay

And who can resist a chocolate factory and…a local brewery ha!

Lunch on the patio, a few games of cards that evening.

We will be back:)

Bay St Louis, January, February.

Bay St Louis is a charming coastal city in Mississippi, where you can enjoy the sun, sand and sea.

One problem… The golf course is beautiful but extremely challenging. Actually so challenging because of the wetlands that Roger and I golfed 9 holes and lost all our golf balls ha!

Bay St Louis is close to Gulfport and Biloxi. the drive there is quite amazing. Along US Hwy 90 across Mississippi, artist Marlin Miller has carved over 50 marine-themed sculptures from oak and cypress trees left standing (but dead) by Hurricane Katrina.

Marina in Biloxi

After the hurricane, most homes were built on stilts…

Fortunately, the bread pudding with caramel sauce is still found in this amazing bakery:)

Bread pudding or German cake, what a difficult decision!

But every destination has a downfall , in this case, tiny flying insects called gnats! They are hardly visible but their bites are painful!

And we thought black flies were worst!
