After a few trials and tribulations, we drove the I-15 mountain pass yesterday.
Yes, that is snow. Yes, those are windmills, for miles and miles. Wonder what the farmers, and cows are thinking..
We also spot what looks like a sea of solar panels (we already saw some) but we are told these are mirrors.
Concentrating solar power (CSP) plants use mirrors to concentrate the energy from the sun to drive traditional steam turbines or engines that create electricity. Impressive technology!
Our destination? Yosemite RV Resort, 25 miles from the Yosemite National Park. The idea was to visit the Park as well as the Sierra National and Sequoia National forests. Because of our late arrival (and temperatures below freezing at night this week) some sightseeing might have to wait till the next time we visit the area, hopefully in October of 2019.
But for now, we appreciate the Resort, its views of the snow caped mountains, the silence…
Thank God for electricity (not sure how it is produced…) and Dan’s heavy and very warm blanket 🙂 Can’t wait to meet Dan and Jess and Mel and Curtis in San Francisco in less than a week!
